About

ABOUT RAINE

I'm an autistic personal trainer, farmer and engineering drop-out with a passion for all things movement and exercise.

I help queer and neurodivergent folks who haven't felt comfortable in traditional fitness and wellness spaces build confidence and trust in their bodies and create sustainable movement routines. My work is unapologetically anti-diet, neurodivergent-affirming, trans-inclusive and anti-capitalist.

I believe everyone deserves to feel at home in their own skin and find joy in movement.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

Madeline, Unceded Musqueam, Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh Territories, colonially known as Vancouver

I signed up for Raine's consultation on a whim in the middle of a seriously low point in 2021, and I am so glad I did. These weekly classes were such a relief in weeks that bled one into the other with little change from one day to the next. Raine has calm, caring energy, and her approach to meeting you where you're at with no shame, caring for your body through movement that feels right for you, and unpacking diet-culture has been so refreshing. These classes have made a huge difference for me by helping to maintain my mental health, and relieve body pain. Surviving this pandemic has been a struggle, but moving with Raine has made it that much easier to bear. I am very much looking forward to working with Raine in 2022.

Rowan, Aotearoa New Zealand

I'm a genderqueer trans guy and gyms have always felt super uncomfortable to me as hyper gendered spaces. Raine creates a sense of safety and ease to work out in my own home! Working out with them as a guide doesn't feel like a punishing chore and I feel way more in tune with my body. Exercise becomes something I want to do out of joy rather than obligation or judgement- I need to move around because I WANT to not because someone else said I HAD to. This also changes the kinds of excercises I do- it's such a different experience to excercise according to what your body is telling you it needs rather than forcing or pushing. Raine is a lovely, encouraging trainer who will offer you safety, ease and rest. They will help you build up strength over time and assist in repairing your relationship to your body in a fatphobic, queerphobic world. They are by far the best personal trainer I have ever had!

Mash M., Seattle, WA

Raine has helped me learn better form and how to respond to my body's needs when it comes to movement. I have been able to gain mobility, strength, and confidence! As a person with chronic fatigue and chronic pain, especially fibro and chronic back pain, training with Raine has been invaluable to me. While physical therapists are awesome, adding in a personal trainer who is centered about body mindfulness and movement over white supremacist, patriarchal body ideals (the before/after, the weight loss/gain, the measurements, etc) has been a really excellent addition to my support system. I would recommend virtually training with Raine to anyone who wants to face fitness fears or find a movement practice that is fun and functional.

A NOTE ABOUT THE LAND:

I live and coach on stolen land: the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Musqueam, Tsleil-Waututh and Squamish nations.

As a person of predominantly white, settler heritage, my relationship to the land is complicated by the history of genocide against the First Nations and Indigenous people who cared for this land long before me. I am constantly working to learn and unlearn, to do better when it comes to my complicity in colonialism, racism and my own privilege.

Part of this is paying reparations, which is why each month I donate 5% of my profits to a local social justice organization, prioritizing queer and BIPOC run organizations.

I am always open to feedback and suggestions.
